release date: 31 may 2002

Project Three today announced that starting Friday May 31st 21.00 CET the long awaited Public Multiplayer Beta of the sensationally beautiful tactical first person shooter New World Order will be available to the general public. The Beta is downloadable from here (click here) and will also be mirrored by some twenty other websites.

The 1-level Beta features the huge map 'Sweden', an atmospheric Nordic village offering a wide variety of locations for every kind of tactics. The map will allow up to 32 players in it at one time and is multiplayer only (on a LAN or via the internet).

Lead programmer Jim Malmros of Termite Games said: "We know the delay since the previously announced Beta-date has kept the fans on their toes. We have been working hard for the last two months to include the revolutionary dynamic player shadowing and polish up several other aspects of the game, including bullet holes, optimal internet coding and hundreds of upgrades. I can now only say their patience is about to be rewarded and we hope to receive tons of useful feedback on the Beta via the P3i forums special section. Enjoy !!"

Project Three also announced the global release date for the final game has been moved to September 2nd 2002. Robert Ercevic, CEO of the Project Three Group, added: "Both the technology and the multiplayer part of the game are now finished. We will be finishing up on the single player part during the summer, work on the beta-feedback, thoroughly test the game and expect to go gold end of July." The remaining period until September will be used for localizing and manufacturing.

Malmros added: "The much discussed player shadows currently only work on the following video cards: nVidia GForce 3 and 4, ATI Radeon 8500. This is due to the fact that other cards just do not support stuff like this yet."
